Dear students, parents and friends of the Saint Sophia’s School,

As you are aware our school has grown so much the last two years that we have been looking constantly for alternative venues to host our celebrations. Our efforts have been very intense during last year. Unfortunately, mainly because of the high cost involved, these efforts have been unsuccessful.

As a result, and after thorough consultation with the School Governing Body, we have now decided to limit the number of classes that will participate in each celebration. More specifically:

  1. Reception classes, Y1, Y3, Y4, GCSE 1 and GCSE 2, the choir and the dance group will perform on the 28th October celebration. Only the parents of the pupils of the aforementioned classes/groups will be able to attend the celebration.
  2. The whole school will participate at the Christmas celebration and all parents will be invited to attend.
  3. Nursery classes, Y2, Y5, Y6, AS and A Level classes, the choir, the dance group and the representatives of the flag will take part on the 25th March celebration. Only the parents of the pupils of the aforementioned classes/groups will be able to attend the celebration.
  4. The summer fête will be organized by the Nursery, Reception, A Level and those students who are leaving the school. Only the parents of children who participate will watch the fête. The remaining classes will hold summer parties in their classrooms where parents will be able to attend. The end of year certificates and the school magazine will be distributed by the Form teachers at the end of the day.

All students will be required to attend school on the days of celebrations. Those not participating will be involved in classroom activities closely related to the theme of the day (arts and crafts for our younger pupils and analysis of historical texts for the older). Each school celebration will be ending with the participation of all students who will sing the National Anthem or a summer song as appropriate.

Thank you for your understanding and continuous support.
