Two hundred years ago, a bunch of poor and oppressed people dared to stand up to the Turks, starting a revolution, which led to the creation of the independent Greek state. Today we honour all those who sacrificed themselves for our freedom and independence, for the preservation of our language, history and culture. For all of us and our children, who live away from our homeland but our hearts stay there, the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence is even more moving, especially since this year we are not able to celebrate it as we would wish. However, last Saturday all our classes discussed the importance of the anniversary and the older students participated in a small online celebration.

Today, we would like to share with you a couple of snapshots from our unofficial celebration, along with the message of the President of the Greek Republic to the expatriate Greek children followed by a very interesting tour of the Presidential Guard. We also invite you to visit the National Historical Museum’s digital exhibition Epanasystasis ’21, which was the source of inspiration for our celebration. Once again, we would like to thank Mr Vangelis Sfiris for participating to our celebration with a variety of songs and the National Historical Museum of Athens for sharing with us their inspirational exhibition.

Χρόνια πολλά σε όλους!
