What an inspiring and creative weekend full of play, thought, and meaningful reflection! Students from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, along with children from the wider community, took part in a series of experiential workshops dedicated to Children鈥檚 Rights, as outlined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Through interactive and engaging activities, the children explored some of their most fundamental rights such as the right to identity, the right to opinion and free expression, the right to leisure and free time. They reflected, shared thoughts with their peers, and most of all, they realised how important it is to hear and be heard, to respect and be respected, to accept and be accepted. A powerful opportunity to build empathy, awareness, and a stronger sense of community among our young learners.
We are deeply grateful to Mr Panos Christodoulou, director of the Network for Children’s Rights聽and author of the book “Do I have a right? I do have the right!” on which the workshops were based, Ms Koula Panagou, Head of Educational Programmes at the Network,聽 as well as Ms Marianna Psychalou, publisher of the book and founder of the publishing house Mikri Selini, who travelled from Athens to be with us and led us with warmth and enthusiasm through this emotional and empowering journey in the “city of our rights.”
馃憦 A big bravo to all the students for their thoughtful participation and open-hearted discussions. Let鈥檚 continue raising our voices for what is fair, kind, and just.
