The trip will take place during the week of the English Half Term (29th May – 3rd June) and children, who will participate, will be hosted at the premises of the Baptist Camp. During their stay the children will have the opportunity to explore Cyprus and socialise with other children of their age. All costs in Cyprus, accommodation, food and excursions, will be paid by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. Children will only pay for their flight. During the trip children will be accompanied by two teachers of the community.  Details about the program of the tour will be provided to stakeholders. If you would like your children to participate in this trip please contact us in order to send you an application form.

Message from the Headmistress

Dear parents,

I would like to inform you that the 19th of December will be, for at least one term, the last day at school for our dearest  Reception teacher, Ms Maria Stefanaki. Kyria Maria has decided to go back to Greece. Kyria Maria has looked after many of the little ones of our school and, I am sure, she will be missed by all. We wish her the best of luck in Greece. Ms Dora Stoupi will substitute for Ms Stefanaki.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Warm wishes.

Alexandra Samara

Change of venue and Christmas bazaar

Please note that on Saturday 5th December our school will not be housed at the main site of St Marylebone School but at St Marylebone 6th Form Centre, which is located approximately behind Waitrose, at 14 Blandford Street, W1U 4AZ. Classes will run as normal from 9.30-11.00am and will then be followed by a Christmas bazaar organised by the PTA. Pupils will need approximately £10 each if they want to participate in every activity. Parents are welcome to join the bazaar if they wish so, otherwise they need to pick up their children from the above address at 1.15pm.

Letter from the PTA

Dear parents,

The PTA is organising a fundraising Christmas party on 5th December 2015 at the school on Blandford Street, from 11am onwards, and all the parents are invited to attend.

There will be an opportunity to buy gift items and festive treats, and take part in lots of fun festive activities in aid of the school, that we are sure the children will want to participate in.  Therefore it is recommended that the children have pocket money with them (or a parent or two!).   You will need around £10 per child.

We will need lots of donations of little toys, gifts, prizes and individually wrapped confectionery to be brought to school in the morning of 28th November.

We will also need lots of party finger food contributions from everyone for the food stall on 5th December, such as sandwiches, sausage rolls, spinach pies, crisps, biscuits, festive treats, juices and fizzy drinks.  These are to be brought to the main hall in the morning.

If you are able to assist in the preparations or run a stall on 5th December, please email pta@stsophiasschool.com, or just come and find us.

The PTA’s funds are used to provide assistance with purchasing additional materials for the school and to fund the mobile library, which will commence again in January.

Kind regards,
The PTA.
